Dr. Alexandra Frank

DVM
Dr. Alexandra Frank grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and has been out East since attending Colgate University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry in 1997. She has always had a passion for science, medicine, and animals, but finally put it all together during her post-college years while working at different veterinary clinics in all possible roles shy of a veterinarian. Dr. Frank graduated from North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007 after which she completed a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Pennsylvania.

Following her internship, she worked as an emergency clinician at a specialty hospital for a few years, then as a general practitioner, and finally, as a shelter medicine clinician at the SPCA in the department of surgery prior to joining the team at Highland Animal Hospital in 2023.

Dr. Frank’s areas of greatest interest are surgery, emergency medicine, and internal medicine, although all areas of veterinary medicine appeal to her. When she’s not at work, she can be found outdoors enjoying nature and life in active and athletic ways with her family and corgi, “Ember”.
